For the maker's description of the Speedcom+ router click here
The router supports up to 112 devices on a 100Mbs network, the 4 network ports being extendable through additional hubs
It has ports for DSL/cable and V90/ISDN modem connections
It provides DHCP and NAT and has many access control security features including a log of intrusion events.
My only difficulty in setting it up was establishing the need to clone the mac address of the network card (required by the blueyonder cable service)
Thereafter, configuration of the device through the browser-based panel was very straightforward …
I restricted the LAN addresses to two, denied ping, and opened three ports in Virtual Server to permit operation of IIS, FTP and another service which I won't detail here ! Otherwise I accepted the default values of the router.
This device cost less than £40 - an incredible bargain !!
